Jessy's Newsletter - the almost summer version

June 2025 - Edition 005

Hello there,

I don’t know about you but summer holidays getting close always catches me by surprise. June tends to have me in the depths of work and getting a gazillion things done whilst the amount of social events tends to grow exponentially. And then one day comes the reminder from school that holidays are imminent.

This week, I am trying to consciously carve out a few minutes here and there to actually sip my coffee, breathe and listen dance to some chill music. You’d be surprised how much these short breaks help focus work after.

So this month I’m inviting you to lean into a chill mood ;)

Thank you for being here and enjoy the read 🤓

In this Newsletter, you'll find...

One of my favourite quotes 💡📌

"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift."

The Silent Nudge

This past month, something's been nagging at me. A gnawing feeling that something wasn't sitting quite right. I knew I needed to do something about it—except I had no idea what that "something" was, or what "it" referred to.

Since embarking on my entrepreneurial journey, I've learned to trust the uncomfortable feeling of not quite knowing what's next. Coming from a background as a high-performing corporate and consulting professional, I promise you that is NOT a comfortable place to be. I'm supposed to know. Always. The now. The next three weeks. The next six months. And if I don't know something, there's nothing I can't figure out with an internet connection, an Excel spreadsheet, and a thinking model.

Except...

That strategy has served me exceedingly poorly over the past two years.

I've only ever made real breakthroughs when I trust the silent nudge in my gut—that inner intelligence that whispers "hell no" or "hell yes."

Malcolm Gladwell captures this perfectly in the opening of Blink, where he tells the story of art historians who immediately knew a piece was fake simply from looking at it. The feeling is crystal clear, yet somehow fleeting.

It's only clear when I make an effort to listen rather than bury myself in models and analysis. (Did I mention how good I am at that?)

This probably stems from two decades of training to look at numbers rather than trust my instincts. For some decisions, like whether to make a multimillion-dollar investment or determining the impact of changing a billion-dollar business's pricing structure, that analytical approach is absolutely right.

For decisions about how to proceed in your own life, whether personal or professional? Not so much.

Even when I knew, deep down, that something had to change, all the logical "bits" were trying to keep me in place. Numb the feeling. Focus on the numbers. One foot in front of the other. Keep going. Sois belle et tais-toi.

In the end, my gut always wins.

So why does my head still put up the fight? Beats me.

Everything came together this weekend on the way home from a beautiful wedding in Sweden. Reading one book, passages from another, a meaningful quote, lots of staring out the window. Suddenly, everything clicked.

The "something" and the "it" revealed themselves, and I could practically hear my gut singing "hallelujah, she finally caught on", complete with a massive eye roll.

Do you ever experience those moments? And how long does it take for your gut to finally win that internal boxing match?

A gentle invitation for summer:

As we head into the slower summer months, maybe this is the perfect time to create some space for your own silent nudges. No pressure, no timelines: just permission to listen.

What's been quietly knocking at your door lately? What would happen if you gave it just a little more attention during those long summer evenings or quiet vacation moments?

Sometimes the most profound leadership decisions happen not in boardrooms, but in hammocks.

Wishing you a summer full of clarity (and perhaps a few "hallelujah" moments of your own),
